How to clean a dryer vent<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 1: \u00a0<\/strong><\/em>
\nEmpty out the lint screen the same way you would after doing laundry. You should do this each time you do laundry. When cleaning the vent, check the lint screen first and remove any small amounts of lint.<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/strong><\/em>
\nUnplug your dryer. It is very dangerous start cleaning a dryer vent while the dryer is still plugged in. This can be very dangerous.<\/p>\n

Step 3:<\/strong><\/em>
\nMove your dryer. You will need to pull your dryer away from the wall to clean your vent.\u00a0 If your dryer is very heavy, find someone to help you.<\/p>\n

Step 4:<\/strong><\/em>
\nRemove the dryer vent adapter. There will be a tube connecting the dryer to the vent, remove the tube from the wall so you can access the vent.<\/p>\n

Step 5:<\/strong><\/em>
\nVacuum out the vent. There are two ways that we use to clean the vent while vacuuming, rotary brush or air pressure. You will connect the vacuum while using the rotary brush or air pressure to remove the lint from the walls of your vent all the way to the roof.<\/p>\n

Step 6:<\/strong><\/em>
\nPut everything back in place. Reattach the dryer adapter running from the dryer to the wall, slide the dryer back into place, and plug the dryer back in. Your dryer should be ready to use and you should see a noticeable improvement in drying times and energy bills.<\/p>\n

Step 7:
\n<\/strong><\/em>Repeat this process every 12 months minimum.<\/p>\n

How Often Should You Clean Your Dryer Vent?<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

One thing to consider when determining how often to clean your vent is how often the dryer is used. If you only dry four or five loads of laundry per week, an annual cleaning should do. However, if you have a large family and dry as many as four or five loads a day, it may be a good idea to clean your dryer vent once every six months.\u00a0 If you want to be extra cautious clean your dryer vent once every three months.<\/p>\n
